The Strongsville Travel Baseball Association has teams ranging from 8 years old through high-school age. Many of the teams play in the Cuyahoga Valley Baseball Association (CVBA).
League play, which is usually 20 to 24 games, begins in late April or early May and continues through mid-July. The CVBA consists of over 200 teams, ages 8 through 18. Teams are located from as far west as Lorain/Elyria, as far south as Medina/Wadsworth and as far east as Solon/Stow. Most teams play in local and out-of-town tournaments throughout the season, which could add 10 to 20 more games to their schedule. Some of the more competitive teams may also play in a second league and play a total of 50 or more games in the four-month season.
Many teams hold tryouts during August and September for the following season. Some teams will add players during the winter months when they begin their indoor practices at local baseball facilities in January.
The cost to play varies for each team depending on its fundraisers, sponsors, the number of games played and the cost of the uniforms. The age cutoff is your child’s age as of April 30. For example, if your child turns 12 on April 30, 2016, he is considered a 12 year old for the 2016 season. If another child turns 12 on May 1, 2016, he is considered an 11 year old for the 2016 season.
